Dear Art Producer, Jamie Zimmermann, and a Fresh Perspective

My interest in photography developed when I was a child, with my dad working at Polaroid. I rekindled my curiosity for photography years later when I worked at an advertising agency before becoming an artist’s rep. I value the experience of seeing the advertising and photography industry from multiple seats at the table. My guest, Art Producer, Jamie Zimmermann, of FCB Chicago, has a similar background to me. She brings a fresh perspective from having studied photography, worked in production, and as a rep before becoming an art producer.

Some highlights of this episode include the fact that Jamie calls on her relationships with reps to find photographers, a nod to the support system she finds there. In echoes of past conversations, she says that lack of motion work is a deal-breaker for her. If motion doesn’t appear on a photographer’s website, she moves on.
