As expected, 2019 has come and gone in the blink of an eye. From our photographer’s exciting commercial and personal projects to our podcast launch, it has been an incredible year. We are so grateful for this community! Thank you for being a part of it.
For your viewing pleasure, and in case you missed them, the following is a summary of our most popular posts for 2019, starting with those about the ever-changing industry.
- March marked the launch of Dear Art Producer, a podcast that continues the conversation I started with Art Producers years ago. Check out the inaugural post and catch up on all of the episodes you may have missed.
- My discussion with Photopolitic made me stop and think carefully about my answers because our industry is changing so much.
- We’ve had important conversations where I voice, as the industry is changing, agents are evolving.
- Check out another example of change occurring with ad agencies, where disruption is key.
Now more than ever, it is essential that you know something about the people in which you do business. Personal projects provide a window into what makes an artist tick.
- Never one to shy away from making his point known, Tim Tadder seeks to elicit a response. “Stereotypes” is a collection you don’t want to say you missed.
- Andy Anderson‘s curiosity made him join a Chicago gang. When we learned about this project, we needed to see what this statement meant!
- When you are Cade Martin, a collector of stories, and you learn about a group of Vietnam War pilots who have untold stories, you want to start listening and chronicling as soon as possible. Please see Cade’s Over War portrait project, an emotional view told from up above.
- Check out Mark Laita‘s latest snake work, a personal project that attracted brands, and you will learn when it comes to Mark and snakes, there is still an absence of fear.
The life of a photographer/director is busy, to say the least. Check out these most-visited posts highlighting their work.
- To start, catch up on our latest news, where we welcomed Jennifer Davick and Jason Lindsey to the roster. Peruse Jason’s work.
- Almost a year ago, we asked Hunter Freeman to tell us about what he prioritizes above all else, both personally and professionally. We weren’t surprised to learn that joy (and therefore, humor) rank near the top. Check it out in Hunter’s words and images.
- David Martinez launched a new website and, along with it, told us about his photographic vision through balance.
- If you’ve never seen Doug Menuez‘s photojournalistic work, you’ll want to take a look at the imagery he delivered for Microsoft, bringing credibility and authenticity on a large scale.
We strive to keep up and, when possible, stay ahead of change. It’s one of the reason’s why this blog exists and why we continue to share information. Here’s to more conversations, community, and beautiful imagery, because we’re all in this together.
Many thanks for the cover image provided by Doug Menuez
I so enjoy Dear Are Producer! Thanks for doing this, I gain so much insight.
It is particularly lovely to recognize and relish in the strong bonds and friendships you have with so many. As I often say, photography is a team sport in more ways than one.
It is particularly fascinating to hear and read your perspective as you glide (struggle? haha ) through the industry as it takes new shapes in it’s forward motion. Change is constant.
Have a lovely holiday season. May we approach 2020 with kindness, creativity, inspiration and hope!
Thank you so much for your kind words and your support. It is a team sport for sure and happy for the team I am on, even when there are struggles! Have a lovely holiday!
