It has almost been a year since The Richards Group and Ram Trucks debuted the powerful “God Made a Farmer” TV spot, proving in our industry that print is not at all dead. We were just as proud then as we are now, that one of our photographers, Andy Anderson, participated with ten other talented photographers, in such a meaningful project.
The TV spot marked the beginning of “The Year of the Farmer” and since then, Ram Trucks dedicated a year long initiative to bring national attention to the significance of the American farmer and the Future Farmers of America organization.
As part of this initiative, Ram Trucks partnered with National Geographic to publish a coffee table book celebrating the farmer, just as Paul Harvey did in his original speech that inspired the TV spot. The book is titled, The Farmer in All of Us.
The book is a beautiful and comprehensive collection of original agriculture, farming and family farm photography, including many of the images commissioned by the original ten photographers for the “Farmer” video. Proceeds from the book will go toward the FFA’s “Give the Gift of Blue” program, which donates traditional FFA blue corduroy jackets to members who would not otherwise be able to own one. The jackets are an important symbol of the hard work and dedication to farming by these young people. So, if you are at all interested in purchasing a book, do so knowing it supports a very special cause.
As was the case with the TV Spot, a special thanks need to go out to the Ram Trucks client, The Richards Group, Jimmy Bonner, Rob Baker and Deb Grisham for their commitment to their vision. And of course to the ten talented photographers: William Allard, Andy Anderson, Jim Arndt, Daniel Beltra, Mark Gooch, Andy Mahr, Kurt Markus, David Spielman, Matthew Turley and Olaf Veltman.
